"The Lost Refrain"

It has taken a few years but I’m finally recording the follow-up to 2011’s Songs About Music. In April, Keith Larson (bass), Bill Jette (guitar) and John DiGiulio (drums) joined me at Rich Sound in Queens, N.Y., to record the first batch of songs for the new project.

We recorded the basic tracks for seven songs: Glorious Day, River in a Raindrop, Why Can’t Everyday Be Like This One?, Dexter and Broad, Let it Slide, Happy Landings and South of the Stars. It was great to play in the same room with my ex-Marlowes’ mates again. The results were better than I could have hoped for considering we didn’t rehearse much beforehand.

As usual, thanks to Rich for his engineering and production talents and keeping everyone focused. I’m going to continue to work on these songs at Anthony Franco’s studio in Rhode Island and will keep you up-to-date on the progress. Stay tuned …
